ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
What you need to earn an academic scholarship
With a good Grade Point Average (your averages from all subjects together) you will be evaluated for acceptance into the institution, and depending on your GPA, you may receive an academic scholarship.
While SAT or ACT scores work like an American college entrance exam, Toefl and Duolingo work like English proficiency tests.
The SAT and ACT evaluate math and English and can lead to an academic scholarship.
Toefl and Duolingo are different tests but they try to understand your level of English reading, speaking, writing and listening. These two are requirements for getting into University and make no difference in the athletic or academic scholarship.
For having a competitive education system where many students have good grades and want to enter the best universities, many institutions appreciate extracurricular activities.
Being part of a sports team at your school, a study group, and playing an instrument in a band are all examples that help the student a lot when it comes to being accepted into a competitive college.
Unlike Universities that require good grades and influence in the academic scholarship, High Schools tend to be more flexible in the process of enrolling the exchange student. You will need above average grades and to have all the necessary documents translated.
Some High Schools will require an English proficiency test to guarantee your success in school, but with basic English you will be able to enter the vast majority of schools.
These are the two types of visas for high school.
